When we went to pick up our rental that we had reserved from kayak, the girl behind the counter put all my info in and the system would not let it go through. She informed us that they just had an update the night before and that there was no one she could call to help (her manager left her phone at work). There was nothing wrong with my card, ssn, or license I gave her. This was at 6am at the Albany, NY airport. We had to get to the GSP airport in South Carolina within the 24hour rental period. Since I nor my husband use any major credit cards, there was no other option than using the bank card that would not go through for whatever reason (I contacted my bank when they opened at 7 and they said nothing was wrong with the account). We ended up having to contact my Grandmother to come all the way back to the airport (we were in NY for my Grandfather's funeral) so she could pay using her major credit card and then adding me as a driver. By this time it was 730am. By this time my Husband was pretty frustrated about the whole thing. And we were dealing with a different guy behind the counter that had just got to work at 7 (Phil). Phil was not very patient or professional behind the counter. When we finally paid with my grandmothers major credit card he didn't even give us till the next day at 730am for the rental. He left it at the original reserved time of 6am. Because of that we ended up taking the car back to SC at 2 in the morning rather than just taking it home and returning it in the morning because we weren't sure we could be up by 530am to take it back by 6.
Car was reserved in advance yet no car was available when I landed. It took a while (15-30 min) for a car to be brought to this location, fortunately it was a significant upgrade to what I reserved (and the upgrade was free). Still, be careful and assume that your reserved car won't be available when you land (plan accordingly for delays).
Literally walked up to return the car and the guy walked away from the counter for 15 mins! The other guy working acted like he didn't know how to do his job and looked at me like I was the idiot. Great prices but terrible customer service
Got a free upgrade because our luggage wouldn't fit. THAT'S customer service!
I rented a vehicle for 7 weeks and turned it in 4 days early they charged me a higher rate for early turn in . the sales people are so rude and poorly trained they should have advised me I would have been charged a different rate ! I would have then keep the car, instead he handed me 6 page rental agreement and said I should have read this first before renting the car this hand out is some thing you need an attorney to review. You would think a little understanding and customer service would be nice especially to someone who rented for 7 weeks and a Military vet. Budget is out to screw the American
